Jerry James Stevenson, 70, of Sterling, IL and formerly of Georgetown, IL, passed away at 8:10 am, Monday, Sept 19, 2016.

Jerry was born August 18, 1946, in Sandwich, IL, the son of James and Erma Blythe Stevenson, both deceased.

Survivors include his brother, Van (Rayna) Stevenson, Veedersburg, IN; two sisters: Beverly (James) Green, Georgetown, and Debbie Stevenson, Bloomington, IL and Atlanta, Ga; three nephews: Todd (Angela) Green, Georgetown; Michael (Nicole) Green, LeRoy, IL and Chad (Jamie) Green, Westmoreland, TN; one niece: Rachel (Quinn) Miller, Romney, IN.

After graduating from Georgetown High School, Jerry joined the Army and served in Vietnam. He was a contract painter by trade and traveled the country while working. Some of his fondest memories included living on a houseboat in Louisiana with friends who were as close as family. Jerry loved to shoot pool; many say he was very good; he taught several to develop that skill. In earlier days, he loved to ride his motorcycle and enjoyed boating and skiing. Jerry had many precious friends in Sterling who were his extended family. He also had many friends in Georgetown especially Don "Mouse" Potter and Jerry (JB) Spezia. Jerry was an easy –going guy who never met a stranger and would give his last dollar for a friend in need.

Jerry was a member of the Sterling American Legion Post 0296.
