U.S. Veteran Charles Gordon Burke was born in Wayne County on October 18, 1962. The son of the late Carolyn Sue Burke Eller and Melvin Kay Carrender. He departed life Monday night September 12, 2016 at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Newnan, Georgia reaching the age of 53 years.
On September 2, 1989, he united in marriage with Sheila Jo Gehring. In addition to his wife, Sheila, he is survived by his father, Melvin Carrender. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Brady and Noah Lair, Kennedy and Carter Anderson; brothers and sisters, William Gehring, Melissa Gehring (Michael) Dolen, Patrick Eller, Melinda (Tracy) Humble, Rhonda Anderson, Charlotte Eller, Constance Lea (JD) Willis, Tammy Kaye (Dwayne) Eggen, Melissa Ranay (Joseph) Reed, and Penni Dyan Creek; along with a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and special friends to mourn his passing..

He is preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Sue Burke Eller; son, Dustan Lair; grandparents, Roy and Flossie Burke and Bob and Stella Carrender; and one brother, Nemer Eller.

Charles worked along with his wife, Sheila Jo in their business SJ Earth Boring, Inc. a business they started together in 1989 until his death.

Charles loved God, his wife and family; he made an impact on everyone he met and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation: Sunday, September 18, 2016 after 4 pm Funeral services: Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 5 pm

Arrangements for Monticello: Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home 647 North Main Street Monticello, KY 42633

Visitation: Monday, September 19, 2016 between 12 pm – 8 pm Funeral Service: Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery in Monticello, KY. Military honors will be performed by our local DAV Chapter 105.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Alex’s House, Haiti, Mountain View Camp, Hope Community Church, or Gideon Memorial Bible Plan
