"George Flener, Jr., 78, of Hanson, KY passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at his home.

He was born on November 21, 1937 in Hanson to the late George and Maudie Flener. George retired from the Ensign Bickford Company after thirty-five years of service. Before his illness he attended Pritchett's Chapel and loved the Monday Night Music Fest. He was an avid Nascar fan. He loved old cars and restored a 1957 Oldsmobile hardtop, a 1957 Oldsmobile convertible and made a Mini 18 from a Volkswagen Beetle and also restored many others. George was a member of the Christian Classic Cruisers Car Club.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Sylvia Flener on June 2, 2013; a brother, Ernest Eugene Flener; and sisters, Betty Johnson, Francis Stromblad, Joyce Hale, Shirley Stills and Mrytie Starks.

Survivors include a son, Rodney Flener and wife, Benda; a brother, Jerry Flener; sisters, Margaret Sue Jones and Emma Lou Yates; grandchildren, Christy Cavanah and husband, Galvin and, Seth Flener and wife, Misty; great-grandchildren, Justin, Taylor and Paige Cavanah and, Dru Flener; his "girls", Chichi and Lily; and, a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Steve Terry officiating. Burial to follow at Hanson Cemetery in Hanson, KY.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m until the funeral hour Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Bobby Johnson, Eugene Stills, Jonny Jones, Mike Flener, Greg Flener, Casey Walker and Steve Hale.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions may be made in George's memory to Pritchett's Chapel Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
