Margaret Gayle Brown, age 77, of Ulysses, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born August 14, 1939, in Sayre, Oklahoma, the daughter of Joe and Ludean (Kimberlin) Craig.

Margaret Gayle grew up at Cities Services Gas Plant east of Ulysses and graduated from Satanta High School. Margaret Gayle married Darrell F. Brown on January 8, 1960 in Sublette, Kansas. She was a Certified Nurse Aide and worked at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital for 25 years in the obstetrics department. She also mentored many young nurses and trained them to help the physically handicapped. Margaret Gayle enjoyed crocheting, needlework, and cooking.

She is survived sons, Bill Brown of Claremore, Oklahoma, Jim Brown of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Craig Brown and wife Pam of Ulysses, Kansas; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Margaret Gayle is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Jody Craig.

Memorial service will be Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Todd Guinn officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Margaret Gayle Brown Nursing Scholarship in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
