CRESAPTOWN — On Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 25, 2010, God called on one of his better angels, Marian E. Warner. Her family and friends mourn the loss but celebrate all the accomplishments of her life. She was the faithful and beloved wife of Fred Warner, who preceded her in death in 2006. Together, they built Fred Warner’s German Restaurant from a family grocery to an establishment known for unique homemade German-American cuisine. She was born in Cumberland on July 8, 1929, the loving daughter of Dorothy Skelley, for whom she learned the values she passed on to her own children; love, honor, respect, and kindness to all. Although she was an active member in her church in Sarasota, Fla., and authored a family history and cookbook, Marian’s first priority was her family. She lived to inspire, guide, and help others. Marian is survived by her daughter Judy, and grandson Logan Witt, of Sarasota, Fla.; grandson Jacy Witt, (who re-opened the family restaurant in honor of his grandparents,) wife Elizabeth, and granddaughters Becca, Kaitlyn and Lindsey, of Cumberland; Beatrice and Barbara Walker and son Zak, of Cumberland; and Glenn Walker and family of Roanoke, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 104 Pineapple Ave., Sarasota, FL 24236; or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Cumberland at a later date.
