She was a member of the Union Star BC in Shreveport under the leadership of Rev. G. W. Odom for over 50 years. Katie served as a deaconess, as a past president and secretary of the usher board, as a Sunday School teacher and with the missionary society. As a widow, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri with her two daughters bringing her talents uniting with the St. Thomas Missionary BC under the leadership of Rev. Wilbert Long.
Mother Allen was a hardworking homemaker for her children and family working outside of the home as well. Her children remember her strong faith in the Lord, he honesty and the benefit of education she passed on to them. She gave praise to her grandchildren and any family members for their life achievements.
