Lawrence “Larry” Ray Eagle Bull

On the 15th day of July in the year of 1959, Evelyn and Lloyd Eagle Bull welcomed Lawrence Ray Eagle Bull into the world. He was born and raised in Pine Ridge, SD and would later live to see the world and sail the 7 seas. On September 18th of 2016, Sir Lawrence Ray Eagle Bull’s earth journey was completed in his hometown of Pine Ridge, SD and he went on to serve a much higher authority.
Larry was an avid boxer, motorcyclist, baseball player, and football player at Oglala Community High School. As a teenager, Larry met the love of his life, Lynnell “Lynnie” Tyon and on July 25th, of 1980 the high school sweethearts were married. Larry and Lynnell had 5 children together; 2 girls and 3 boys. On December 20th of 1982, he joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged from The Navy on May 17th 1990. Larry and Lynnie would soon return to Pine Ridge, SD and raise their children.
Larry received his AA in Human Services at Oglala Lakota College and went on to work at The Pine Ridge Indian Hospital from 1993 until he retired in 2008. During that time, Larry, volunteered his free time as a baseball coach while living in California with his family and would later become a boxing coach in Pine Ridge, SD in which he was able to coach his two oldest sons as well as their peers. He was an avid golfer and loved his golf team “The Regulators. Larry was known for his sense of humor, joyful personality, and devotion to his family, friends, and community. He later ran for Tribal Council and was elected by his hometown community as an OST Pine Ridge Council Representative from 2012 to 2014. Larry was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Larry is survived by his mother Evelyn “Sissy” Eagle Bull of Pine Ridge, SD, wife, Lynnell Eagle Bull of Pine Ridge, SD, his children; Jeanne Eagle Bull Oxendine, Autumn Eagle Bull, Larry Eagle Bull, Josey Eagle Bull, and his little sisters Jackie “Babydoll” Eagle Bull –Miller, Llloydell “Suzy” Mesteth, Vange and Janice Jennesse; as well as 15 grandchildren all of whom he loved whole heartedly.
He was preceded in death by his father Lloyd “Butch” Eagle Bull Jr, grandfather Lloyd “Toby” Eagle Bull Sr, grandmothers; Alvina Big Crow -Mills and Gladys Steele-Ecoffey, Aunt Jacklyn Ecoffey- Palmier, Uncles Francis “Jamie” Big Crow Sr and Roger Mills, his nephew Tevin Tyon and his eldest son, Toby Ray Eagle Bull.
Lawrence “Larry” Ray Eagle Bull’s viewing will be held at Sioux Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 2:00 pm with a one night wake service to follow beginning at 3:00 pm at the Pine Ridge Middle School Gymnasium. Funeral services will be at 9:00 am on Thursday September 22nd 2016 at the Pine Ridge Middle School Gymnasium with burial procession to be held at The Black Hills National Cemetery located in Sturgis, SD.

Pallbearers will be: His eldest grandsons and nephews will carry him; Jameson Eagle Bull- Oxendine, Montel Carlow, Jake Eagle Bull- Oxendine, Rayhan Carlow, Kasey Miller, Kyle Mesteth, Brandon Ecoffey, Tyler Eagle Bull, Lyle Waters, Benji Pourier, and Ray Rowland.
