OIL CITY, LA - Funeral services for B.A. Reeves, 67, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2006 at McGuire Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Taylor, pastor of Mooringsport Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by Eugene Tunstall. Burial will be at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Oil City, LA.
Mr. Reeves, a retired carpenter with 27 years of services with V.A. Medical Center, died December 12, 2006 at Grace Home in Shreveport after a lengthy illness. He was born August 21, 1939 in Gladewater, TX and had been a resident of the Oil City area for the past 65 years.
He was a member of Oil City Baptist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge, El Karubah Shrine and was a US Air Force veteran. Mr. Reeves loved to spend time with his family, to paint and to "piddle".
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard A. Reeves; brother, Charles Garland Reeves; sisters, Jimmie Lee Martin and Jackie Rosier and a great-grandson, Corbyn Tunstall.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Chaylor L. Reeves of Oil City; 3 daughters, Mitzi Tunstall and hustand Eugene of Mooringsport, Kathy Garner and husband David of Oil City, LA and Debbie Wilbanks and husband Roger of Shreveport; three sisters: Dorothy White of Oil City, LA, Billie Harmon of Bossier City, LA, Betty Weaver of Natchitoches, LA; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great-grand children.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Justin Gamble, Phillip Garner, Brandon Garner, Jeremy Tunstall and Ronald Saulsbury, Tommy Poindexter and Dickie Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Puckett, Roger Wilbanks, Jerry Daniels, and Dave Garner.
