He was a native of Cataula, Ga., but had lived in Sterlington for the past seven years.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Sterlington Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Raddin officiating. Burial will be in Monroe's Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Gay's Funeral Home of Bastrop.
The remains will lie in state at the funeral home until about noon, when the body will be taken to the church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. May Griffis Hancock, Sterlington; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Lou Ledger, Sterlington, Mrs. Francis Edwards, Jackson, Miss., and Mrs. Peggy Adkins, Daytona, Fla.; two brothers, C. C. and S. E. Hancock, both of Monroe; one son, Edwin H. Hancock, Burk Burnette, Tex.; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roy Farmer, Glen Canterberry, Roy Nail, Dalton Johnson, Warren Ledger and Harold Williams.
