Richard E. Franks, 79, of Springville, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

Richard was born May 8, 1937 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Harry and Irene (Wilson) Franks.

On October 3, 1964, he married Beverly Ann Heald.

Richard worked for Harnischfeger Inc. in Cedar Rapids, Carrycraft Boats in Berlin, Wisconsin, and Property Management in Anchorage, Alaska. He retired in 2005.

Richard is survived by his wife, Beverly of Springville; children, Leonard (Stacey) Marko-Franks of Westminster, Colorado, Dawn Franks of Springville, Jeffrey (Jess) Franks of Royalton, Minnesota, and Dennis (Elena) Franks of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Thomas, Robert, and Abby Marko-Franks, Heather (Anthony) Larson and Jeremy (Nycole) Larson, Stephanie (Dalton) Potter, Kelsi, Kayla, Kellen, Kylie, Kyle, and Kodi Franks, Britney Hanaman, and Brooke and Katya Franks; and eleven great-grandchildren and one due in December.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, Peter and Leah Franks, who raised him.

Per Richard’s wishes, no services will be held.
