Laraine B. Belongia, age 89, of Manitowoc, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Early Sunday morning, September 18, 2016 at Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.
Laraine was born on November 23, 1926 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Edward and Emma (Popelar) Husar. Laraine attended local area schools graduating with the class of 1945 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On May 17, 1947, she married Everett Belongia at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1991. Laraine was a secretary and bookkeeper for many companies in Manitowoc until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Daughters of Isabella and enjoyed reading.
She is survived by two children: Bonnie (Edward) Herrmann, Batavia, IL; James (Kerry) Belongia, Manitowoc; four grandchildren: Jason (Maria) Herrmann, IL; Abbie (Michael) Fisher, IL; Erich Belongia and his fiancée: Lisa Beaudoin and her son: Chase, WI; Brad (Amanda) Belongia, WI; nine great-grandchildren: Zachary Tector; Olivia, Lupe, Ella and Sela Herrmann; Alayna and Cullen Fisher; Paige and Raegan Belongia; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Mae Husar; Pearl Meisner; Viola Belongia; Ralph Belongia, all of Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Everett; one daughter: Margaret "Peggy" Belongia; two grandchildren: Thomas and Nancy Herrmann; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Lillian Hebel; Java (Chick) Shimek; Marge (Alvin) Bauman; six brothers and three sisters-in-law: Don Husar; Victor Husar; Clarence Husar; Ray (Lollie) Pech; Elmer (Helen) Pech; John (Mary) Pech.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2016 at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish on Marshall, 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. Rev. David Beaudry will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial, with burial at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements.
