Mary C. Grosner Thompson (January 26, 1919 - September 15, 2016)
Mary C. Grosner Thompson, age 97, of Trumbull, CT, beloved wife of the late Franklin Lee Thompson (May 8, 1918 – January 9, 1993), passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016 in the Jewish Health Center, Fairfield. Mary was born in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, January 26, 1919 to the late John and Ethel (Mihalek) Grosner, and has been a long-time Trumbull resident. She attended Stratford High School, and during the war years, worked at Chance Vought, builder of the Corsair, and at Columbia Records.
Mary was passionate about antiques, and enjoyed attending and working at flea markets, antique shows, and auctions.
Survivors include her devoted daughter, Janice Dowd and her husband Tim of Long Island, NY, 2 cherished grandchildren, Timothy F. Dowd, who passed away just hours after his grandmother, and Jennifer Dowd; 3 great-grandchildren, Aidan, Taidgh, and Maggie, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was pre-deceased by her brothers, John, Joseph, Daniel, Andrew, George, Stephen, and Jim Grosner, and sisters, Ethel Kuhar, and Helen Platko.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, September 19th, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT, and at 12:00 Noon in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Stratford, CT, for a Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will be in Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull.
Friends may call on Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
