WALTER CURTIS ROSE

Walter Curtis Rose of Emporia died Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Stormont-Vail in Topeka. He was 59.

Mr. Rose served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam.

Obituary

Walter Curtis Rose passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. He was 59.

Walter was born December 4, 1956 in Chicago, IL to Robert Earl and Marion Newman Rose. He joined the Marine Corps and served during the last days of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Marine Corps league and the American Legion Post 1168 located in Edgewood, IL.

Walter attended Tilden Tech in Chicago, IL and Lakeland College in Mattoon, IL. He worked for some time in security and also as an air conditioner builder with Fedders.

Walter was married to Constance Wright in Kansas City, KS in 1975. He married Rosalie Hicks in Osage City, KS in 1989. He married Libby Thomas in Emporia, KS in 2007.

He enjoyed karaoke, photography, and working on his genealogy. He liked helping people in need with money or a place to sleep and his desire was to be able to open a homeless shelter.

Walter is predeceased by his parents, his first two wives, his daughter Laurel, his brother Robert Rose Jr., his sisters Barbara Barnett and Marion Bly; and his stepson Anthony Adams. He is survived by his wife, Libby of the home; his daughter Crystal (Rolland) May of Emporia, KS; his stepsons Bill (Heather) Raleigh of Rossville, IL, Justin Cotton of Emporia, KS, Jonathon Adams of Garnet, KS; his stepdaughters Peggy Lara of Farina, KS, Amy (Damian) Weidner of Emporia, KS, Tricia Mills of Emporia, KS, Lena Adams of Garnet, KS; his brother Steven Rose of Bonner Springs, KS; his sisters Virginia Kowal of Chicago, IL and Judy Malone of Overland Park, KS. His grandchildren are Miranda Morales, Michael Morales, Dylan Morales, Taryn May, and Anthony Ryther Weidner plus many stepgrandchildren. He also leaves Aaralynn Salazar, a greatgrandchild.

The family will receive guests at a visitation on Monday, September 26, 2016 from 8:00 am to 9:30 am at Faith Lutheran Church, 1348 Trailridge Rd. in Emporia. The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor David Schemm on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 9:30 am at Faith Lutheran Church. His graveside service with military honors will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Olpe after the funeral.
