He resided his whole life on the family farm. He served on the Miller School Board, as an election judge and other community activities.
He was a graduate of Miller High School. During World War II, he served in the United States Army in the Asiatic Pacific campaign and the Philippine Liberation campaign. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
He married Wilma Brown Dec. 20, 1950. She survives at the home, with granddaughter, Kaytlynn.
Additional survivors include four children and spouses, Gary and Ruth Sanders, Sheila and Earl Dunham, Lisa and Bill Rose and Shane Sanders; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016. Burial will follow at the Red Oak Cemetery.
