Mr. Burrell was born July 7, 1915, in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He retired from American Enka in 1969. Ralph was a member of Paint Fork Missionary Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late John and Isabelle Ingle Burrell, and widower of the late Thelma Coates Burrell, who died in 2000. He was also preceded in death by his great-grandson, Lorne Charleston Smith, who died in 1991.
Surviving are his daughter, Joyce Burrell Ballew and husband, Reid, son, Kenneth Burrell and wife, Nedra, sister, Dale Duyck, and brother, William Burnice Burrell, all of Barnardsville; loving granddaughter, Lisa Smith and husband, Jimmy; and loving great-grandchildren, Christopher, Dakotah and Hunter Smith.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with the Revs. Worth Emory and Larry Coates officiating.
Burial will be in West Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be his three great-grandsons, Christopher, Dakotah and Hunter Smith, as well as Tim Coates, Buddy Jeffords and the Rev. Larry Sprouse.
