Rajesh Ranjan Das "Raja", 26, esteemed Duke medical student, passed away in Raleigh, North Carolina. Raja was known amongst his friends and family for his dedication to one simple fact: life is beautiful, and one should enjoy it with as many people as he or she can. His devotion to family, academic achievements and passion for music were some of his many admirable qualities, spawning a fan club that ranged from babies to grandparents. He possessed a magnetic charm that enabled him to connect with everyone and limitless love that left no one feeling alone.
Born in Boston, Mass., Raja moved to Cupertino, CA with his family at age 12. A Monta Vista high school honors student and an Ivy League graduate from Columbia University, Raja received his Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering. He went on to attend Duke University where he was in his fourth year of medical school, concurrently pursuing a masters degree in biomedical engineering. He had an ambitious goal to become a plastic surgeon, and had a passion and an innate talent for working with children.
He is survived by his grandmother Ambuj Bala Ghosh, parents Shyam and Nilima Das, sister Sangeeta and brother Anshu. Parents and siblings live in Saratoga, CA. With an infectious laugh, one that not even his medical knowledge could cure, and an invincible smile, his spirit will live on with us forever.

Memorial services and cremation were held in The Oak Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 300 Curtner Avenue in San Jose, CA.
