Adeline Hurt, age 86, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at her residence on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 7:00 am. Adeline was born on August 22, 1930 in Oquawka, Illinois, the daughter of James Benjamin and Mary Alta (Reese) Sells. She was reared and educated in Oquawka, attending Oquawka High School. On July 27, 1969, Adeline married Ervin Blaine Hurt in Kewanee, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2005. She was previously married to Melvin Spangler on August 27, 1947 in Oquawka, IL. Adeline was a homemaker. Adeline loved to knit, crochet, quilt, attended Bingo, and work crossword puzzles. She was know by her family as a "Professional Babysitter" as she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Adeline is survived by sons and daughters; Rodger (Michelle) Spangler of Dekalb, MS, Bonnie Spangler of Oquawka, IL, Carol Tomson of Junction City, KS, David (Mary Kay) Spangler of Cambridge, IL, Nancy (Dennis) Brooks of Monmouth, IL, Brenda (Reuben) Randolph of Galesburg, IL, Roger (Ruth) Hurt of Oquawka, IL, Gale (Nina) Hurt of Oquawka, IL, Joyce Romine of Monmouth, IL, one sister, Mary Chambers of Del City, OK, twenty-nine grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Edith Oertel, Eva Price, twin Pearl Utterback, Mabel Reeder, brothers; Lawrence (Curly) Sells, Ernest (Hank) Sells, Benjamin Sells, one infant daughter, Corrin, daughter Mary Eva (Hurt) Barnes, son-in-law Ken Tomson, and her grandson David B. Hurt.

Visitation
Her family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Funeral Service
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka. Interment will follow the service at the Oquawka Cemetery. Donations can be made in Adeline's name to the American Cancer Society.
