Alzadia was born to William Whittington and Nancy Jane (Medlin)Whittington. She married Eli Lockwood on 24 December 1899. Eli passed away 22 of September 1917 of kidney disease. Alzadia married a second time to Monroe Betterton. They were married 11 July 1918 and then divorced sometime after. Alzadia and Monroe married a second time on 1 July 1919 in Mount Vernon, Lawrence County, Missouri. On 9 July, 1919 Alzadia was shot and killed by Monroe. According to "The Monett Times" dated 18 July 1919 on page 3, Alzadia was "to be interred beside the grave of her first husband Mr. Lockwood. She leaves four children."
