Philip A. Thomas, 83, of Fountain City passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 15 at Reid Health.

Phil was born in Richmond, Indiana on August 27, 1933 to Clyde A. and Martha Myrtle Allen Thomas. He was a 1951 graduate of Whitewater High School.
Phil was raised on the family farm on Inke Road. After farming for several years he became an insurance agent, working in the industry for over 20 years. He later worked with Alpha Water before retirement. Phil made memories with his sons and many other kids as a Gra-Y coach and as a 4-H leader of the Highland Hornets 4-H Club. He served many years as Dairy Director at the county fair. Phil served his community for several years in the Fountain City Lions Club, where he was the Levi Coffin Days flea market chairman and also formerly served as a Lions district officer. Phil enjoyed reading westerns, collecting tools, and making home-made ice cream with his family.

Phil will be missed by his wife, two sons, 6 grandchildren, eight great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Sandra Thomas; sisters, Reba Love and Hazel Barton; brothers, Willard and Robert Thomas.
