Juanita was born in McConnels, Alabama then moved to Tuscaloosa, with her family. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1943 and then graduated from Druid City Hospital in 1946 as a registered nurse. She married her husband Waldo H. Deason, Jr. in 1947 and moved to Fayetteville.
She worked at Highsmith Hospital and also for the doctors at Village Drive Medical Office.
Preceding her in death is her husband, 1st Sgt Ret. Waldo H. Deason, Jr.; father, R.C. “Nub” Smith and mother Edna Davis Smith, sister, Ethelyn Smith Shirley; brothers, W.D. “Dub” Smith and R. Frank Smith, Sr. all of Tuscaloosa; several nieces, nephews and cousins as well.
She leaves behind her children, Elizabeth Dianne Armstrong Deason of Fayetteville; Lyndia “Sue” Suzanne Simpson and husband Volkmar of Linden; Dora Bonita “Bonnie” Deason of Fayetteville and Penny McBride of Rockledge, Fl.; Waldo H. “Bubba” Deason, III and wife Susan of Spring Lake; grandchildren, Bradley Armstrong and wife Jennifer of Durham, Jennifer Godoi of Boise, Idaho, Christina Simpson Ortiz and husband Jason of Hillsborough, Christopher E. Simpson of Linden, Samantha E. Buckman and husband William of Kinsington, Maryland, Aaron W. Deason of Spring Lake; great grandchildren, Kelly, Carter, Logan, Georgi Armstrong of Durham, Hailey Sue Kraft, Zachary Ortiz both of Hillsborough, and Camden Buckman of Kinsington, Maryland; and also her brother Ira T. Smith of Northport, Alabama
A graveside service will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
