MRS. LURETTA ARMSTRONG DIES AT HER LATE HOME IN THIS TOWN ON THURSDAY MORNING
Luretta Pellet, widow of the late Robert V. Armstrong, died at her home in this town at a quarter after three on Thursday morning of this week. Mrs. Armstrong has been in feeble health for more than a year past, but was not considered dangerously ill until Saturday last, when she was compelled to remain in bed. The deceased was the third daughter of the late Obadiah Pellet, of Pellettown, and was aged 82 years, 9 months and one day. She was born on the homestead farm, now occupied by her brother, Richard W. Pellet. Soon after her marriage she removed with her husband to the farm now occupied by her son, George N., near Pellettown. It was here that she lived happily with her husband for nearly sixty years, or until seven years ago when the aged couple removed to Deckertown to spend the remainder of their days in their neat home on Bank street. "Aunt Rettie," as she was familiarly called, was a most estimable lady, generous and hospitable, of a pleasing and kindly nature, and greatly beloved by a large circle of friends and relatives. She was a most charitable lady, and the worthy poor in the neighborhood in which she lived always had an unostentatious friend in Aunt Rettie. As a mother she was affectionate and ever mindful of the wants of her children, and always on the alert for their happiness and welfare. She survived by five children, Thomas, of this town, James D., of Woodbury, Martha M., wife of Ex-Surrogate Henry McDanolds, of Passaic, George N., of Pellettown, and Sarah E., residing at home in this town. She is also survived by four brothers and one sister. They are Obadiah Pellet, residing at Newton, John W., of Bradford county, Pa., Legrand, of Ross's Corner, Richard W., of Pellettown, and Mrs. Emily Lantz, residing near the North Church, in this county. The funeral will be held at her late home on Saturday, at 1 p.m. Interment at Branchville (Sussex Independent, Friday, June 27, 1890).
