Edwin L. Wood, 78, of Lebo, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Life Care Center in Burlington.

He was born August 13, 1938 in Yates Center, Kansas the son of William and Addie Sterdivan Wood. He attended Yates Center High School and graduated with the Class of 1956.

Ed married Neva M. Cook in August 1957 in Yates Center. They would later divorce.

As a young man Ed drove trucks and worked as a local farm hand. He would later go on to be a foreman at the brickyard in Buffalo, Kansas. Ed moved to Lebo in 1966 and began working at Didde Glaser in Emporia. He would later retire from Vektek where he worked as a tool grinder.

He was joined in marriage to Emmajean “Jeannie” Frye on June 18, 1978. Jeannie preceded him in death on April 2, 2008.

He will live on in the hearts of his son, Benny D. Wood of Lebo; step sons, Clarence “Frenchie” Frye of Lebo, Danny Frye of Lebo, Rodney Frye of Moran, Bill Frye of Dallas, North Carolina and James Frye of Olivet; sister, Wilma Hoag of Denver; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; eleven step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by a son, Donald E. Wood; three sisters, Doris Joan Zink, Ada Jasper and Margaret Garrison; five brothers, Bill, Lloyd, Elmer, Donald and Raymond.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo, a Celebration of his life will be held following the visitation. Inurnment will be held at Lincoln Cemetery Thursday morning at 11:00 A.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lebo American Legion Post #323 and sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed on the funeral home's website.
