Harvey Duane Turner, son of Harvey Sylvester and June Elaine Helm Turner, was born May 23, 1940 in Waterloo, Iowa. He departed this life Wednesday, February 27, 2013 in his home, in Hartville, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, nine months, and four days.
On October 30, 1968, Harvey was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Grubaugh and together they shared thirty-two years until Ruth’s passing on August 15, 2001.
Harvey was also preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Wendy Turner, who died in infancy, and Colleen Volner; brothers David and Kevin Turner; and a sister, JoAnn Rodriguez.
He is survived by his son Harvey “Buddy” Turner, Jr., and wife Naoko, of Springfield, Missouri; daughter, Michelle Whitson and husband Brian of Independence, Kansas; grandchildren, Jessica Starnes, Jacob Turner, and Danielle Volner; a great-grandson; two sisters, Patty Rushing of Kirbyville, Missouri, Diane Turner of Pine River, Minnesota; a brother Peter Turner of Pine River, Minnesota; as well as a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Harvey was born in Iowa and moved to Duluth, Minnesota as a young man. He worked as a firefighter while living in Duluth. He spent time living in Texas and Kansas before moving to the Hartville are in 1992.
He liked to work on small electronics and was a licensed Ham Radio operator, went by the call sign was KD0LEN. He enjoyed fishing and did so until his health would not allow him to.
Harvey was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends.
