James Brooker Abercrombie, age 71, of 703 Fairview Road, Fountain Inn, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Hillcrest Hospital.

Mr. Abercrombie is the son of the late Paul O. and Addie Pitts Abercrombie. He was retired from John D. Hollingsworth on Wheels as a machinist with 30 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanette Satterfield Abercrombie of the home; two daughters, Tracy Harper and husband Terry of Fountain Inn and Alice Douglas and husband Mark of Tennessee; one son, Rex A. Abercrombie, Simpsonville; two sisters, Virginia Babb, Green Pond and Nora Woods, Green Pond; one brother, Edward Abercrombie, Fountain Inn; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Abercrombie was predeceased by a son, Jimmy Abercrombie.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at 2pm in Cannon Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Christopher officiating. Burial will follow at Fountain Inn City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society , 154 Millstone Way, Greenville, SC. The family will be at the home of the daughter, Tracy Harper, 3886 Durbin Church Rd, Fountain Inn. Published in The Greenville News on Apr. 16, 2001.
