Jim joined the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)in 1956. He transferred into the Intelligence Section of the DPS and later joined the Texas Rangers, Company "C", located in Lubbock, Texas.
He retired from the Texas Rangers in 1982. After retiring from the Texas Rangers, he began work in the human resource section for the State of Texas. In 1982, Jim and Dorothy moved to Midland, Texas and Jim went to work for Tom Brown Drilling Company as an Office Manager and Investigator. Jim retired from Tom Brown Drilling in 1996. Jim and Dorothy made Ruidoso, New Mexico their retirement home in 1996.
Jim Singleton was a member of the following Shrine temples: Kiva, Ben Hur, Suez and Ballut Abyad. He was a member for approximately 40 years until his death on November 20, 2006. He served as President of the Ballut Abyad Shrine for two years.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of Ruidoso, New Mexico, one son, Tony Russell Singleton and wife Beverly, and twin grandchildren James Wesley Singleton and Heather Nicole (Nikki) Singleton, all of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and one brother, Eddie Singleton and his family of Seagraves, Texas. He is also survived by many other friends and family and will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
