Ted was born to Mandius and Malina Aadland on July 30, 1908 in Horace, North Dakota. He was the second oldest of ten children. The family immigrated to southern Saskatchewan in 1910 and homesteaded in the Chambery District with all the other Norwegians. He attended Rhodes School to grade 8, and like most prairie boys started working fulltime as a hired hand to neighboring farms, plus helping at home. During the 20’s and 30’s jobs and money were scarce. One had to become skillful at many trades. Ted became a skilled mechanic and started working at Wilton’s Garage. During this time, he married his special girl Marie Van Sandt on June 14, 1944. In 1951 Ted was offered employment with Sask Power Corporation and worked in Shaunavon and then in Swift Current until his retirement in 1973. As everyone knows that did not end his working days, he always found something to do. After 63 years at the same location, at 102 years old, Ted moved to Long Term Care. Here he experienced a whole new lease on life making new friends and revisiting old friends.

Ted was predeceased by his wife Marie, one daughter Mary, four brothers Peter (Dot), Richard, Kelly and Tommy; three sisters Hazel (Fred) Crossen, Agnes (Marshall) Wilton, Jo (Bill) Onyschuk; one son-in-law Dalton Cairns and grandson-in-law Trevor Collier.

He is survived by his children Wayne, Donna, Sheila (Philip), Dennis (Deb) and Barbara (Colin); nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; one sister Garda Van Allen, one brother Les (Cecil) Aadland and one sister-in-law Margaret Nelson, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

A tribute was presented by his daughters Donna Cairns, Sheila Fritz and Barb Grettum. The Urn Bearer was his grandson Kelly Fritz.
