The death of Arthur Palmerston (Pally) Hetherington of The Kiwanis Nursing Home Sussex, NB occurred on Tuesday February 23, 1999. Mr. Hetherington was born in Codys on March 11, 1911. Son of Frank Judson Hetherington and Alice (Perry) Hetherington. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy Ardis (Robinson) Hetherington and two brothers; John and Ralph. He is survived by two sons Arthur and his wife Connie of Sussex and Kenneth and his wife Brenda of Fredericton and two daughters Elizabeth and her husband Denis Matheson of Saint John and Edith and her husband Raymond Bishop of St. Andrews. Three brothers Gordon, London England, Robert and Donald of Codys and one sister Grace Hetherington of Sussex. Eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mr. Hetherington was an avid gardener, farmer, teacher, local historian, a graduate of Provincial Normal School and U. N. B. and honorary member of the NB Teachers Association as well as the New Brunswick, Queens and Kings County Historical Societies. A life member of the NB Progressive Conservative party and a dependent of the United Empire Loyalists. Up until his illness in 1990 Mr. Hetherington was an active member of the Codys United Baptist Church. Serving as Deacon, Trustee, Sunday school Teacher and Clerk.
A memorial service will be held from the Codys United Baptist Church on Monday March 1, 1999 at 2:30 pm. Interment will take place in the spring at the family cemetery plot, Codys NB. In lieu of flowers donations to the Kiwanis Nursing Home Inc. 11 Bryant Drive, Sussex NB or charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
