Anthony Norman Ford affectionately known as "Tony" was born on May 12, 1955 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was one of eight children of the late Reuben and Willie V.E. (Levine) Ford. On the morning of September 4, 2016, he suddenly departed this life and made his transition from "labor to reward."

Tony was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School system and graduated from Schenley High School in 1973 with academic honors and an athletic scholarship (baseball) to Iowa State University. Unfortunately, he was only able to stay for one semester before he began to have mental challenges, which made it impossible for him to finish.

When Tony was young, he was an exceptional baseball player who was written up numerous times in local newspapers and received other awards, trophies and accolades. His family and friends knew that he had the potential to eventually play Major League Baseball if he had been able to continue his career. Whenever you saw Tony, you saw a baseball cap, a baseball, a bat and a glove.

In his later years, after his mental health challenges, he became permanently disabled and was unable to work but was always loving and caring.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William, Sr. and Hubert.

He leaves to cherish his memory, siblings: Robert C. Ford, Sr. (Barbara), Cynthia R. Ford, Dennis R. Ford, Lloyd R. Ford (Renee) and Harriet D. Crawley (Wilbur, Jr.). He is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.

We never lose the ones we love... They live on in our hearts...
