OBITUARY - Wapello Republican, Wapello, Iowa, Thursday, April 19, 1984:

Raymond Roscoe Coleman, 84, Oakville, died Wednesday, April 11 at the Morning Sun Manor.
Visitation was held Friday evening. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at Dudgeon- McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. The Rev. Max Gaffield officiated. Pallbearers were Jack Coleman, Donald Coleman, Ronald Coleman, Ray Coleman Jr., Keith Grim and Kirk Swanson. Flowers were cared for by Diana Coleman and Ellen Coleman. Phyllis McCulley was organist. Dorothy Woodruff and Scott Woodruff were vocalists. Burial was in Harrison Cemetery. He was born December 30, 1899 in Iron County, Mo., the son of John William and Jane Skiles Coleman. His first marriage to Janie Harvey took place in 1929. She died on April 26, 1930. He married Hattie Hake on June 13, 1931 in Missouri, and she died in 1956. Mr. Coleman had been a farmer and lumberman and had worked at J. I. Case in Rock Island. He retired as an employee of the Oakdale Sanitarium in Coralville. Survivors include two sons, Jack of Wapello and Arnold Ray of Atalissa; one daughter, Ruby Swanson of Oakville; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kate Sanders of Ellington, Mo. He was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers and two sisters.
