OBITUARY: Wapello Republican, November 20, 2003(accompanied by a photo):

Michelle Diane Napier Swanson, previously known as Michelle Smith, age 30, of Oakville, died Wednesday morning, November 12, 2003 in a motor vehicle accident east of Wapello. The daughter of Jesse and Rhonda Tanner Napier, she was born January 21, 1973 at Danville, Indiana. She graduated from Danville High School and received her medical assistant training from Professional Career Institute in Indianapolis. She was a homemaker and had attended the Church of the Nazarene in Wapello. She was a songwriter and musician and an excellent singer. She also enjoyed painting and writing poetry. She was an excellent cook and fantastic mother. Survivors include her father, Jesse Napier of Danville; her mother, Rhonda Blaschkey of Mooresville, Indiana; a son, Cody Swanson of Oakville; a daughter, Kayla Swanson of Oakville, her companion, Kirk Swanson of Oakville; her mother-in-law, Ruby Swanson of Oakville; a sister, Beverly Napier of Oakville; a brother, Jesse Lee Napier of Danville; and a step-brother, Michael Lane of Indianapolis. The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at the Church of the Nazarene in Wapello with the Rev. Brent Smith officiating. Music was several selected recordings. Burial followed at Edwards Cemetery, Oakville. Pallbearers were Keith Grim, Brian Swanson, David Swanson, Darin Swanson, Michael Grim, and Derrick Jennings. Honorary bearers were Dennis Swanson, Mike Miller, Tom Young, and Al Baldwin. The family met with friends during the hour prior to the service. The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello provided the care and arrangements.
