Barbara F. Roth Abbey, 76, of Maple Shade Ave., Falconer, passed away Wednesday, (Oct. 2, 2013), in Heritage Village Rehab Center in Gerry, N.Y.
She was born April 14, 1937, in Lincoln, Neb., daughter of the late Clair C. and Hazel Wilson Roth.
She was a 1955 graduate of Randolph Central School and the Raphael Beauty School in Jamestown.
In addition to being a homemaker, Barb worked at Sears in the Chautauqua Mall and for the former Market Basket in Randolph. She was a member of Levant Wesleyan Church and grew up attending the First Baptist Church of Randolph.
Barb loved cooking and preparing family dinners for the holidays and spending time with her children, grandchildren and family members. She also enjoyed reading and buying arts and crafts.
She is survived by her three children: David D. Abbey Sr. of Jamestown, Diane L. Gilbert and husband, David of Jamestown and Denise L. Scheib and husband, Michael of Palmerton, Pa.; three siblings: Clif Roth and wife, Donna of Tennessee, Karla Gault and husband, Paul of Ohio, and Portia Butler and husband, Daryl of Arcade, N.Y.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren: David D. Abbey Jr., Amanda C. Finch, Melissa M. Hildebrand, Jessica Kolaski, Jake F. Scheib, Amber R. Jarosz and Chelsea A. Jarosz; four stepgrandchildren: Carrie Mahon, Cherie Mahon, Kerstin Jackson and Rachel Gilbert; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frederick G. Abbey, whom she married, June 23, 1956, in the First Baptist Church in Randolph; and a daughter; Deborah Lee Abbey.
