Joyce Ann (Bayer) Boyce was born on the family farm south of Julesburg; Sedgwick County, Colorado. She was the daughter of Alfred and Ester (Roberts) Bayer. Joyce attended country school located on land her family had donated. She later attended high school in Julesburg before moving to Ogallala where she graduated from the Ogallala High School in 1958. Joyce married Loyd Boyce on Saturday; April 12, 1958 in Sterling; Logan County, Colorado. She was a homemaker until she started to work at TRW in July of 1979. She was an avid garage saler. She loved antique auctions and collected various knickknacks such as angels, elephants and porcelain dolls among others. Her favorite activity was gambling and playing the slot machines. Joyce Ann (Bayer) Boyce, age 66 of Ogallala, passed away Tuesday evening, October 31, 2006 at the Ogallala Community Hospital. Those left to mourn her passing are her two daughters, Michelle Marie Boyce of Ogallala. Melodie Ann (Travis) Poncik of Ogallala. Granddaughter, Shannon Amber Boyce of Kearney; Buffalo County, Nebraska. Her sisters, Sylvia (Marvin) Harding of North Platte; Lincoln County, Nebraska and Vera (Howard) Hansen of Ogallala. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loyd Boyce; a son, Kent Boyce; and a brother, Larry Bayer. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at the Gubser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Carlton of the New Hope Church officiating. There will be a family inurnment service prior to the memorial services at the Ogallala Cemetery.
