Debra Sue (Campbell) Thornton, 62, of Palmyra went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, September 12, 2016, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.She was born on June 10, 1954, in Waynesboro, a daughter of Shirley Campbell Birkhead and the late Robert Campbell.
In addition to her mother, Shirley, she is survived by three children, Whtiney Sites, Kasey Powell, and Douglas Phillips; five grandchildren, April, Keith, Branden, Treavor, and Addison; six sisters, Denise, Mary, Susan, Kathy, Kim, and Patricia; two brothers, Michael and Steve; and a number of other extended family members.
Debra was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Palmyra. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, writing, and spending time with her family.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Bethel Baptist Church in Palmyra by Pastor Scott Davis. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2016, at Thacker Brothers Lake Monticello Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 227 Bethel Church Rd, Palmyra, VA 22963.
