DELTONA, Fla. — Judith Gail (Smith) Perkins, 77, of Deltona, formerly of Kearney, Neb., died of cancer Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, in Deltona.

Celebration of life services will be at 4 p.m. Oct. 1 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Deltona. She was called home to our Lord after a long battle with cancer.

Judy was born in York, Neb., on Aug. 20, 1939. She graduated from Kearney High School, class of 1957. Judy moved to Milwaukee in 1968.

She was a longtime member of the WELS Church, St. Marcus of Milwaukee and Good Shepherd of Deltona. After over 30 years of service, she retired from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and moved to Deltona to be closer to her family. She enjoyed visiting the beach, spending time at church and spoiling her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Mike Perkins and wife Cindy of Dallas and Mark Perkins and wife Dawn of Deltona; eight grandchildren, Shayne, Christina, Stephanie, Trevor, Eva, Drew, Libby and Ty; four great-grandchildren, Barbie, Jessenia, Nathan and Trenton; sister, Jo Anne Jones of Kearney; and numerous nieces and nephews. Judy was a foster parent to five young souls who consider her their grandmother as well.

She was preceded in death by her father, Stoy Smith; mother, Jo Smith; and brother, Bob Smith.
