Loretta K. Perkins "Snookie" was born July 21, 1937 in Columbus, OH to the union of James and Elneata Bridges. On September 11, 2016, she lost her battle with cancer after a brief hard fight, but she won the war for eternal peace. Loretta was united in matrimony to Athel Perkins on March 3, 1956. She and her husband lived on Hildreth Avenue for over 47 years. This loving union was blessed with two children. Loretta was employed at The Ohio State University and retired in 1998 after serving more than 30 years. Since her retirement, she took up babysitting for family and friends. At an early age, she accepted Christ. Upon her arrival to the near east side, she and her husband joined Mt. Vernon Ave AME (Methodist) Church where she was a faithful member for over 50 years. During her tenure at Mt. Vernon Ave AME, she joined the Hospitality Committee, Culinary Staff Ministry, Social Religious Literature Society (So-Re-Lit Society), Essie Hamilton Missionary Society, Stewart Board Society and Usher Board and served all organizations faithfully. She also attended Sigsbee Avenue Church in the American Addition area. Loretta was a true friend to all. She was a very caring, loving, giving and supportive person. If you needed a shoulder to lean on or a person to talk to, she was there. One of the greatest joys of her life was her family. She is preceded in death by her parents Elneata and James E. Bridges, brothers Tommy E. Bridges, Winston H. Bridges and Stephen Bridges, sister Odrenda Frazier.
