He was a member of First Baptist Church and a faithful member of the Mens' Mutual Bible Class.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie E. Grubbs Bennett; daughters, Mrs. Virginia Keedy, Miami, Fl.; Mrs. Ella Keedy, Mrs. Madeline O'Connor and Mrs. Betty Leather, all of Hagerstown; Mrs. Jane Virts, Rockville; sons, James L. Bennett, Jr., and Charles R. Bennett, both of Hagerstown; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Emma Mallott, Williamsport; Mrs. Eva Schlotterbeck, Cavetown Pike; Mrs. Lula Castle, Hagerstown; brother, Renner Bennett, Hagerstown.
Services were held at the First Baptist Church; burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery; arrangements were by A.K. Coffman Funeral Home.
