Deacon Willie Earl Crear was born July 5, 1944 in Moss Point, MS to the parents of Charlene Crear Molden, Magor James and Charlie Richardson.

He transitioned from this earthly life into eternal rest with the Lord on September 14, 2016 at 6:48pm at Gulfport Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS.

Deacon William and Sylvester Crear (Poppa and Big Mama) played a major role in Willie Earl’s childhood upbringing and instilled in him the importance of having a spiritual relationship with God. He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Moss Point, MS and was baptized by Rev. P.D. House. He served in the position as Deacon, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Spiritual Advisor of the Benevolent Committee and the church choirs. President of the Sanctuary Choir and member of the male chorus. Deacon Crear was blessed with the gift of singing and shared it wherever he went without reservation.

Willie Crear attended Magnolia Elementary and Magnolia High School in Moss Point, MS where he graduated in the Great Class of 1963. He was known around the coast for his outstanding football skills as a running back for the Mighty Monarch. He often used the quote, “My name is Willie Earl Crear and I can run faster than a deer.” After graduating from high school he attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA and played football on the Southern University Jaguar Football Team. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics.

He retired from Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding, Pascagoula, MS in March 2012 after 44 years of dedicated service as a Senior Program Planner.

His memories will be cherished by a loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Laura Nettles Crear; two sons, Ronald (Christan) Crear and Eric LaTodd (Keysha) Crear; daughter, Alana “Misty” (Johnathan, Sr.) Dease; grandchildren, Johnathan, Lauren, Ronald, Jr., Ramad, CaToddra, Sydney, Stefon, Katheryn, Karmyn, Tymeshia and Dwanquece; great grandson, Landon; sisters, Mary Mason, Kathleen (Everett) Hemphill, Omiter James, Catherine (Rev. Cecil) King, Deborah James, Florine Fowler and Iola (Gerald) Polk; brothers, Bernard Webb, Willie (Shirley) Richardson, Rev. John (Shannon) Richardson, Charlie (Doris) Richardson; devoted mother-in-law, Equilla Hurd; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Frank) Molden, Ruby (Willie) Hill, Carlena (Eddie) Hobson; brothers-in-law, Claude (Mary) Nettles, Wilfred (Elaine) Nettles, Bobby (Carolyn) Nettles; caring aunt, Jean (Curley) Bryant; lasting friends, David (Mary) Joyner, Rev. Samuel (Jeri) Nelson and Tommie (Patricia) Simmons; neighbor friends, the Barnes, Nolan/Biggs, Borden and Bracks family; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins friends and a stedfast committed church family.
