Daisy E. Burgus, 95, of rural Sperry, died at 1:03 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 1991, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born December 10, 1895, in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Ira D. and Abbie Blanche Larkin Marshall. She married Herbert C. Burgus September 25, 1918, in Burlington. He died February 7, 1960.

She was a lunch room cook at Sperry school and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sperry United Methodist Church and its W.S.C.S.

Surviving are three daughters, Dorothy Crow, Morning Sun, Mrs. LaVera (Robert) Gerst, Yarmouth, and Mrs. Pauline (Wayne) Kester, Burlington; two sons, Harold Burgus, Burlington, and James Burgus, Sperry; one sister, Hazel Granaman, Burlington; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call as they desire from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 3 to 5 p.m. at Lunning Chapel.

The service for Mrs. Burgus will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Sperry United Methodist Church with the Reverend Leland Eyers officiating. Burial will be in Kossuth Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Sperry United Methodist Church and Hope Haven.
