Leroy entered this life in Tahlequah, OK on December 6, 1940, the son of John Turner and Sallie Agent. He was one of seven children to bless this marriage. He grew up and made his life in the Tahlequah area, raising four children of his own. Leroy loved his family and friends, his grandchildren were his world. He enjoyed doing many things in his spare time such as playing golf, sneaking off to his favorite fishing hole, watching NASCAR or someone jump off the top ropes in wrestling, take in a good western, and listen to gospel singing. He was also a man that knew the art of telling a good story, and never passed up the chance to capture an audience. Dinner time would find him looking for some chicken livers or a five dollar fill up at KFC. Leroy was a man that really enjoyed a simple life surrounded by his family and friends. These few words cannot begin to express what an extraordinary man he was, and how dearly he will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son John Leroy Turner, three brothers Roy Turner, Clint Hammer, Rick Turner, and three sisters Nancy Mouse, Ollie Gann, and Ella Mae Blackbird.
Those left to carry his memory include one son Paul Ray Turner of Tahlequah, OK, two daughters Paula Kay Turner of Tahlequah, OK and Lori Turner Center and husband Jim of Winslow, AR, five grandchildren; Paul Turner Jr., Jennifer Turner, Robert Battershell, Kallie Center, and Jack Center, one step granddaughter Jodi Waters, one step grandson Grayson Waters and one great grandson James Ellis Center.
