Ginger Daneen Young was born September 21, 1955 in Delano, California the daughter of Billy Joe and Delores Spence Harris. She passed from this life on Thursday afternoon, September 15 at her home in Henderson, TN at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 25 days. She graduated from Tehachapi High School in Tehachapi, CA in 1973. She received her B.A. in Education from David Lipscomb University then earned a Masters of Education/Special Education from Belmont University in 2006. She married Clay Young on July 16, 1977 and they lived in Nashville from 1977 – 2011. While living in Nashville, she worked at Nashville Christian School from 2002-2010 as Director of the L.I.F.E. Program. They moved to Henderson, TN in February of 2011 and she began working at Freed-Hardeman University as Director of the Tutoring Program. In July of that same year, she became Director of Academic Success. She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband Clay Young of Henderson; her parents Billy Joe and Delores Harris of Henderson; a daughter Leah and husband Eric Gott of Nashville; a son William and wife Andrea Young of Florence, AL; a sister Jenifer and husband Scott Evans of Nashville; a brother Bill Harris and wife Kathalee of Ramstein Air Force Base, Rheinbrohl-Rheinland-Pfalz-Germany; a sister-in-law Trudy Baxter Harris of Evansville, IN; a granddaughter Ella Ford Young of Florence, AL and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Debbie Harris and a brother Jon Harris. Funeral Services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 17 at the Henderson Church of Christ with burial to follow at Chester County Memory Gardens. In the place of the traditional visitation time, A Celebration of Life Service will be held immediately following the committal service in the commons area of the Henderson Church of Christ about 5:00 P.M. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family has established "The Ginger Harris Young Endowment Scholarship" to assist students majoring in special education at Freed Hardeman University. Donations may be sent to the fund, at Office Of Advancement, 158 E. Main St. Henderson, TN 38340.
