Lois Dale Mason, age 87, passed away in Helena, MT on February 5th, 2016 with family at her side.
Lois was born on March 26, 1928 to Jessie and Dewey Burns in Oklahoma. Her family then moved to Missouri before settling in California, where she graduated high school and soon met her husband Leo. They were married in 1949 and raised their family in Castella and in the redwoods of northern California. After raising their family, Lois and Leo moved to Montana, building a log house from the trees felled from their property. Lois was the center of her family, drawing in all her children and their families to her home every year on the 4th of July.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Leo Mason, 25 years ago, almost to the day. She is survived by the members of her large family- daughter Barb (Bob) Welborn, sons Tom (Debbie) Mason, Matt (Cathey) Mason, Bryan (Shelley) Mason, Richard (Rebecca) Mason, and Samuel (Jessica) Mason, grandchildren Laurie Sweet, Amanda Mason, Raymond Mason, Jessie Mason, Justin Calhoun, Janelle Calhoun, Mallory Mason, Lee Mason, Brandon Mason, Shannon Mason, Connor Mason, Madison Mason, Ivy Mason, Max Mason, Emily Jenkins, and Allison Jenkins, and great-grandchildren Kayla Calhoun, Alex Calhoun, Cayden Sweet, and Van Mason, as well as sister Sybil Ransom, and brother Burt (Wilma) Burns.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, February 8th at 3pm at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home in Helena. A short internment service will be held at the White Pine Cemetery in Trout Creek on Wednesday, February 10th, at 12:30pm.
