JUDY JACOBS Northwell Health lost a great friend in Judy Jacobs on Tuesday night. As the health system's longtime director of community relations, Judy was passionate about civil service, and community and civic activism. The 11-term Nassau County legislator worked tirelessly for the communities she served. For Northwell Health, she was a staple at local government and community meetings, fostering key relationships with elected officials at all levels of government, as well as civic leaders and other local constituents. She left an indelible mark on Northwell, Nassau County and Long Island. A former teacher in the Elmont school district, Judy became a fixture in the County Legislature in 1996 when she took on the role of Democratic representative from Woodbury - a position she held until her untimely passing. She also served as the Legislature's presiding officer from 2000-2008. Long Island Business News selected Judy for its Top 50 Women in Long Island twice. She served in numerous community organizations and committees, including the Research Community Advisory Board at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. This July, Plainview and Syosset hospitals honored her at their Heart & Sole 5K fundraising event. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Judy's three children, Jackie, Lenny and Linda, and nine grandchildren. Judy and her family are in our thoughts and prayers. Michael J.
