Danny Joe Hayes, age 79, of Alexandria, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Community Hospital in Anderson following a brief illness. Danny was born on September 7, 1937, in Elwood the son of Gerald Hayes and Evelyn (Collier) Daulton. Danny graduated from Wendell L. Willkie High School in 1956. On Sept. 27, 1958, Danny married the love of his life Marian (Keller) Hayes. Danny was formerly employed by Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Muncie and he was the owner of D J's Tax Service. He was a member of The New Beginnings Church of Anderson. Danny was one of the founding members of the Tea Party of Madison County.
Danny is survived by his wife, Marian Hayes of Alexandria, two daughters, Debbie (Gary) Allen of Alexandria and Dawn (Donald) Bixby of Elwood, one son, Butch (Wanda) Hayes of Alexandria, four grandchildren, Danielle Fetters, Jason Hayes, Donald Bixby,Jr., and Kylee Rigsby, seven great grandchildren, Trinity, AriAnna, and Josiah Fetters, Kaizen and Kyle Bixby, Emma and Lydia Rigsby. Two brothers, Gary Hayes of Anderson and Jeff Hayes of FL, three sisters, Sandy Sprankle, Sue Ann Shetterly and Theresa Cook all of Anderson, several nieces & nephews.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents and a brother David Hayes.
Funeral service September 17, 2016, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, in Elwood, with Pastor Gary Marcum of the New Beginnings Church officiating. Burial will follow in Parkview Cemetery in Alexandria.
