Ronnie Joe Bell was born on December 15, 1954 in Lebanon, Kentucky to Lovie Haskins Bell. In his youth, Ronnie loved to play football, basketball, and baseball. He went away to college at Kentucky State University where he played baseball. Then in 1978 he joined the Army and he was a proud soldier. Ronnie served our country for 21 distinguished years. Ronnie gave his life to Christ at a young age when he joined Sherman Chapel AME Zion Church. Ronnie passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016 due to complications from lung cancer.
Ronnie leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Erica (John) Stubblefield, and Sarah Bell, of Richmond, Virginia; son, Ron Bell, Jr., also of Richmond Virginia; sister, Alene West, of North Aurora, Illinois; brother, Donnie (Angela) Bell, of Nashville, Tennessee. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother; three sisters, Linda Bell, Arnita Barnett, and Anna Bell; brother, James Thomas Bell.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2016 at Bosley Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Tommy Calhoun. Interment to follow in Lebanon National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Marion County Veteran Honor Guard.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will continue until time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
