Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17th at the Merkel Church of Christ with Jay Don Poindexter officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Benny was born November 6, 1928 in Merkel to Arthur Leroy and Rosa Lee (Wheeler) Rogers.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Benny was a welder and blacksmith most of his life. He was an artist, knife maker, fisherman, and rock collector.
Survivors include three sons, Glen Rogers and Mark Rogers both of Merkel, Dale Rogers and wife Terry of San Saba; six grandchildren, Nathan Rogers and wife Janie of Lubbock, Gabriel Rogers of Lubbock, Neisha Dorantes and husband David of Alabama, Tina Wilson and husband Aaron of San Saba, Bethany Rogers of Houston, and Brian Rogers of San Saba; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to the Merkel Cemetery Association, 201 Edwards St., Merkel, TX 79536.
