Myra J. Brooks, age 99, previously of Gordon, GA, died June 19, 2010 in Greenville, S.C. Mrs. Brooks, affectionately known as Ms. Myra, was a long
time member of the First Baptist Church of Gordon; a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Al Sihah Temple, Macon, GA; and past president of the Gordon
Woman's Club where she served for over four decades.
In addition, Mrs. Brooks was President of the Gordon Public School's PTA several times. Mrs. Brooks was born in the Beulah community of Hancock County. She was educated at the Beulah School and the A&M School at Granite Hill - Sparta. She was a teacher at the Wilkinson County school at Clear Creek before marriage.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Burton Brooks, sister Blanche, and daughter Eugenia Brooks McDowell. Survivors include her son, Al Brooks (Gloria) grandchildren Karen (Jim), Diane (Bob), Tony (Sandy)
and Sonya;great grandchildren Tasha (John), Jim (Julie), Lauren and Lindsey; and several great-great grandchildren.

The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, at the Ivey Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Williams-White Columns Funeral Home,
Gordon, Georgia. Beloved Pastor Maxie Threatt of First Baptist will lead the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 307, Gordon, GA 31031.
