Laura McCreight Called By Death
Rites Saturday Morning at Residence
Following an illness of about two years in duration, Mrs. Laura E. McCreight, 65 years old, wife of C.F. McCreight, passed away at her home in Stringtown north of Lebanon last night at 11:30 o'clock. Death was attributed to pernicious anemia.
She was born in Hancock County, Ohio, a daughter of David and Elizabeth S. Kimmel. She taught school ten years in the state of her birth and a similar period in Indiana. She taught one school west of Frankfort for seven years. Her marriage to Mr. McCreight occurred at Frankfort, January 17, 1900. After a few years they took up residence in Boone County and at the time of her death had lived here about twenty-five years.
Mrs. McCreight as long as her health permitted was a devoted church worker. She taught Sunday school classes many years both in this city and in her girlhood community and for several years was organist in the church near where she was born.
Besides the husband she is survived by three brothers, Homer Kimmel of Clinton county, and Morton and Charles Kimmel of Boone county; and two sisters Mrs. Eli Myers, of Forest City, Ark., and Mrs. J.A. Jenkins of this city. She was a member of the Presbyterian church, Women's Christian Temperance Union and Woman's Relief Corps, all of Lebanon.
The funeral will be conducted Saturday morning at ten o'clock from the McCreight home, the Rev. James D. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
