He was born in Rushcreek Township, Logan County, on Sept. 24, 1917, a son of the late William Abner and Lulu Mary Miller Shaw. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Caldwell; brothers, Theron, Willard, Melvin, Robert and Wilbur Shaw; brother-in-law, Art Caldwell; and sisters-in-law; Alma and Emma Shaw.
On Aug. 19, 1949, he married the former Audra Irene Reinhart and she survives, along with sisters-in-law, Goldie, Avonelle and Helen Shaw; and several nieces and nephews.
Roger served in the U.S. Army until 1945 and then worked for H.G. Short, MacGillvary Motors and Anderson Ford, where he retired as an auto mechanic.
He was also a faithful member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Bellefontaine, where Pastor Jeffory Willetts conducts a funeral at 2 p.m. Friday, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial is in Miami Cemetery, Rushsylvania, with military rites by the Logan County Honor Guard.
