She was born September 17, 1930 in Aledo, Ill. the daughter of Wayne and Lydia Jackson Tribler. She married William J. Welch on January 26, 1952 in Galesburg, Ill. he preceded her in death December 28, 1987.
Marilyn is survived by three sons Fred Welch of Galesburg, Ill., Tim Welch of Oneida, Ill., and Tom Welch of Galesburg, Ill., three daughters Connie Welch, Becky and Jeff Willer, and Janet and Pat Napier all of Galesburg, Ill., and three step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one infant son Joseph, and two sisters Lajune Nelson and Jean Sanders.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1948. She owned and operated the Maid-Rite Sandwich Shop for 39 years retiring in 2010. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church and was an avid animal lover.
Cremation will be accorded with a private family burial at a later date at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday September 16, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Galesburg Elks Lodge #894 at 1640 N. Henderson St. Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Guardian Angel Humane Society or the Defenders of Freedom Veterans Home & Shelter.
