John H. Barnett, age 85, died surrounded by his family Sunday, September 11, 2016. He was born on November 11, 1930 to Oscar Scott and Carrie Lee Barnett in Marshall, Arkansas. John served in the U.S. Navy as a flight engineer during the Korean conflict. He worked for the City of Fort Worth as a Communications Supervisor and was a member of the American Legion. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be deeply missed. He is preceded in death by both parents, son Vance Barnett and sister Carolyn Duncan. Left to cherish his memory is wife of 61 years Betty Barnett; son Duane Barnett and wife Susan of Aubrey, TX; son Jeff Barnett and wife Laurie of Fate, TX; 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Brown's Memorial Funeral home between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. A graveside service will be held 10:00 am Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, followed by a Committal with Military Honors.
